At the TCU Financial Group and SSSAD Coaches Luncheon, SSSAD recognized the long term service of its retiring coaches and service members.
In the coaching category, SSSAD recognized 8 individuals who dedicated a career to teaching and coaching young people. Guy Fuller and Archie McKay were recognized for their expertise in working with young people in the sport of football, serving the majority of their carrers at Holy Cross High School and St. Joseph High School. Doug Humbert was saluted for his 30 year teaching career at Evan Hardy, Mount Royal and Walter Murray while dedicating his time to football. Paul Jacoby was honored for his 36 years of teaching and dedicating a career to coaching basketball, football, tennis and track and field at Aden Bowman and Nutana. Bill Gordon at Evan Hardy, Barry Rusnell at City Park and Marion Graham and Al Loewen at Aden Bowman were honored for their contributions to young people in basketball. Norm Stonehouse was recognized for his commitment to the sport of wrestling at Evan Hardy and Bedford Road.
In the service category, Wally Doepker of Holy Cross was applauded for his commitment to high school athletes in the sport of curling and serving time as a pole vault official at city and provincial track and field championships.
SSSAD congratulates these individuals for their commitment to high school athletics and wishes them well in their retirement.
