| Teams Fight for League Title in Wrestling posted: Feb 3, 2009

Wrestling reaches mid point of the season this week and the schedule features the first of three major clashes.in the season. On the schedule is one the favorite evenings for wrestlers with the Dual League Championship on the line at Bedford Road beginning at 4:30 PM on Thursday February 5. A championship which focuses on weight class domination rather than a point sytem which favors the teams with the most wrestlers capable of accumlating a lot of points, the Dual League Championship has long caught the attention of competitiors as schools go head to head versus another school to determine weight class superiority and the league champion for boys and girls. It has been regarded as the true indicator as to which school has the best wrestlers not necessarily the most wrestlers.
Simply, the school which wins the most weight classes versus their opponent in both the girls and boys side of things advances to the next round. The school left standing at the end of the night will be declared the league champion. Of course, the school which can fill the most weight classes with competiitors has the best ofpportunity to advance through the brackets. The boys wrestle off in 16 weight classes: 40, 43, 46, 49, 52, 55, 58, 62, 66, 70, 75 82, 90 98 110 and 110 + kilograms while the girls fight it out in 11 weight classes: 32, 45, 48, 52, 56, 60, 65, 71, 77, 85, and 85+ kilograms.
On the boys side, St. Joseph and Holy Cross will face each other in one semi final while Walter Murray will wait to determine who will join them in the other semi final. The other teams will wrestle to determine positions 5 througjh 8. On the girl's side, Marion Graham and St. Joseph will challenge each other in one semi final and Walter Murray and Holy Cross will mauch up in the other semi final. It will prove to be an excitng...
