KINSMEN LLOYD SAUNDERS ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
This award of $2 000 is presented annually to a male and female Saskatoon high school athlete and graduate to further his and her education. This year’s recipients are two individuals who have both excelled academically and contributed greatly to school sport and the community.
Graham Unruh graduated from Evan Hardy Collegiate in June 2010. He currently is enrolled in first year Arts and Science at the University of Saskatchewan with the career goal of being an educator in Physical Education. Graham is currently a member of the National Champion Saskatoon Hilltops and was recognized as the Top Rookie for the team in the 2010 season.
Graham was a four sport athlete in his grade 12 year, excelling in football, basketball, badminton and track and field. He was honored for his talent and ability, work habits, leadership skills and passion for sport. Graham was the most valuable player on the football and basketball teams and was also recognized with the highest athletic honor at Evan Hardy, the Pride, Hustle and Desire Award, his “competitive fire’ aligning nicely with his dedication and commitment to skill improvement and his natural athletic ability. Graham earned track and field recognition throughout high school at both the City and Provincial Championships, specializing in the 200M and 400M events and the 4 x 100M and 4 x 400M relays.
While maintaining a grade point average of 75%, Graham has worked with young people at camps and clinics to promote core strength and endurance development as well as skill improvement. He is currently serving as a Junior Basketball Coach at Evan Hardy Collegiate. Experiences in coaching and teaching will serve him well in his goal of becoming a teacher.
Graham is an outstanding young person who has shown tremendous pride and passion in all his endeavors. He has earned the respect of many for his contribution to athletics and for his infectious personality and ‘love for the game’ which has endeared him to so many.

Kelsey Gsell graduated from Mount Royal Collegiate in June 2010. She is currently enrolled in her first year at the University of Guelph, working toward a Bachelor of Science Degree, honors in Bio Medical Science. She is a member of the Guelph Gryphons Wrestling team.
Kelsey was a four sport athlete in her grade 12 year, contributing to the volleyball, cross country, wrestling and track and field teams. In 2010, Kelsey was a City and Provincial High School Champion, National Juvenile Champion and SAWA Most Outstanding Juvenile Female Athlete in wrestling and also earned national and international recognition in the sport by representing Canada on the Under 18 National Team.
An honors student, Kelsey earned a 97% average in grade 12, earning recognition as the top student in a number of subject areas, her dedication and commitment to academics respected by staff and students. Kelsey was a Saskatoon Public Schools’ General Proficiency Award winner in all four grades in high school.
Kelsey is an outstanding young person. She is friendly, positive and enthusiastic role model, dedicating much time and effort in support of others, and to help programs and events succeed at the school. She demonstrated outstanding leadership on the Student Representative Council and the Grad Committee in her senior year and enjoyed her experiences in other aspects of school life such as with the band, art and drama programs.
