Spring Sports in Full Swing

The 2015 spring sport seasons are underway.
The Track and Field season begins on Thursday April 30 with Mini-Meet #1 at the Fieldhouse. Competition begins at 4:30 pm. Athletes will compete in 4 x 100m, 1500 m, 60 m, high jump, long jump, and shot put as they begin their preparation for the 2015 Bob Adams City Track and Field Championships on May 27 and 28 at Griffiths Stadium.
The boys spring soccer 7 vs. 7 league gets going next week beginning on Tuesday. This is the third year of the boys spring league and seven teams are competing. The two new members to the spring league are Oskayak and Bethlehem. They will be joined by Tommy Douglas, Bishop Mahoney, Marion Graham, ED Feehan, and Bedford Road. There will be some great soccer action this spring! A full schedule is found on the website.
The city golf teams are finiship up the indoor part of their training at the Ramada Golf Dome. A huge thank you to the Dome for accomodating us for the past three weeks. Golfers will take their training outdoors next week as they prepare for either the 9 hole championship on June 4 or the City Championship event on June 9.

Spring has Sprung

The Easter Break has passed, which means the start of our Spring Sport Seasons!
Today marks the start of Track and Field, Golf, and Spring Soccer.
The 2015 Badminton season is nearing the playoffs. The 10th annualy Brian Walter Memorial Tournament will take place on Thursday April 16. The Junior City Championships are on Wednesday April 22 and the Senior Championships are on Saturday April 25. All of the playoff competitions will be held at Walter Murray Collegiate.

Basketball Champions Crowned and Cheer/Pom City Championships

The 2015 Cheerleading and Pom City Championshp takes place tonight at Marion Graham Collegiate beginning at 7:00 pm.As usual, we expect an exciting evening and a packed house. The Tommy Douglas Tigers are the defending Cheerleading City Champions and the Bedford Road Redhawks are the two time defending pom champions. Come check out the championships!!
On Saturday night, history was made at the PAC. The Holy Cross Crusader girls basketball team won an unprecedented sixth straight city title with a 75-30 victory over the St. Joseph Guardians. On the boy's side, the Marion Graham Falcons also made history, capturing the city championship for the first time in school history. They defeated the Bishop Mahoney Saints 71-59.
The top four teams will advance to the 2015 SHSAA Regional Basketbll Championships this coming weekend. The boys field, which includes Marion Graham, Bishop Mahoney, Walter Murray, St. Joseph, PA Carlton, PA St. Mary, and Swift Current will play at Marion Graham. The girls, which includes Holy Cross, St. Joseph, Evan Hardy, Centennial, PA St. Mary, PA Carlton, and Swift Current will travel to Swift Current. The top four teams from each of the regional competitions will advance to Hoopla 2015 in Saskatoon from March 26-28. All results will be found at www.shsaa.ca.
